RexVid field manual · Direction before generation

Write prompts that direct the shot

Structure subject, action, scene, camera, light, and continuity for text, image, and reference-driven video workflows.

01 / 06

Who or what holds attention

Subject

Name one visual anchor first. Use observable traits—material, silhouette, clothing, scale, or condition—instead of backstory the camera cannot see. For people, prefer fictional or anonymous adults and avoid identity claims.

Try this structure

Working line

A weathered red field recorder with one silver dial and a braided black cable.

02 / 06

One change the viewer can track

Action

Choose a primary action with a beginning and end. Direction, speed, and repetition make motion testable. If several events matter, place them on a short timeline instead of joining them with vague words.

Try this structure

Working line

The cable uncoils once from right to left, then the dial turns a quarter rotation.

03 / 06

Space, surface, weather, time

Scene

Give the action a physical place. State the floor or supporting surface, background depth, time of day, weather, and two or three useful objects. Remove details that never affect a frame.

Try this structure

Working line

On a scratched oak workbench beside a rain-softened workshop window at blue hour.

04 / 06

The viewer's position and movement

Camera

Specify framing, height, angle, lens character, and at most one deliberate move. A locked frame is a real choice. Avoid stacking orbit, crane, zoom, handheld, and rack focus into the same few seconds.

Try this structure

Working line

Medium close-up at workbench height; one slow 20-centimeter push-in, no pan or orbit.

05 / 06

Direction before adjectives

Light & style

Describe the light source, direction, softness, color relationship, and material response. Reference a visual process—documentary, paper cutout, studio product—not a living artist or protected franchise.

Try this structure

Working line

Cool window light from camera left, weak amber task lamp, restrained documentary color.

06 / 06

The contract between frames

Continuity

List the facts that cannot drift: count, color, wardrobe, object position, screen direction, weather, and camera axis. Continuity language is especially important when the shot contains a transformation.

Try this structure

Working line

Keep one recorder, the same dial position after the turn, cable color, rain, and camera axis.

Reference syntax

Point to evidence, then direct it.

References do not replace direction. Tell the model what each source contributes and what must remain unchanged. Uploads stay private and are resolved by their ordered track position.

@role

Use @role for an approved reusable character once the role library is enabled. Until then, the Studio marks this token as unavailable instead of inventing an identity.

0–2s → 2–5s → 5–8s

Use short time ranges for sequential actions. Give each range one readable beat and preserve the same visual anchors across the boundaries.

Choose the right evidence

Three modes, three jobs

  1. 01

    Text to video

Use when composition and motion can be described without a required source frame. Put the most important visible decision first.

  2. 02

    Image to video

Use one image when appearance is already established. Direct motion, camera, and continuity; do not redescribe the whole image into conflict.

  3. 03

    Reference to video

Use ordered image, video, or audio references when several cues must work together. State the contribution of each source explicitly.

Efficient iteration

Three production habits

  1. W1

    Block the shot first

Test subject, action, and camera at a modest output setting. Add surface detail only after the composition reads clearly.

  2. W2

    Write a continuity line

End every draft with the few invariants that matter. Reuse that line unchanged when comparing variations.

  3. W3

    Change one variable

Keep the seed and structure stable while testing one camera, lighting, or action decision. Label the variation before generating.

Before you hold credits

A generation is easier to evaluate when the brief has a visible success condition. Check these six points before requesting a quote.

Open Studio with this checklist
  • One primary subject is visually identifiable without relying on hidden backstory.
  • The main action has a direction, pace, and clear ending.
  • Framing and one intentional camera behavior are stated.
  • The source, direction, and color relationship of the light are described.
  • The details that must not drift are listed explicitly.
  • Every @image, @video, @audio, or @role token has a valid purpose and source.
